Online Auction Site Sells Used Municipal Landfill Equipment

(Fairfax, VA, January 23, 2001) – While the holiday season was upon us, the solid waste equipment auction site of WasteBid.com, Inc. (WasteBid), a Metropolitan Washington Internet company, achieved another milestone in the waste industry’s move to e-commerce.

Mr. Robert Brickner, Chief Operating Officer of WasteBid, announced, today, that “WasteBid completed its first formal online auction for a municipality using the WasteBid site. WasteBid provided the online auction service on behalf of Anne Arundel County, Maryland and received bids on a used Caterpillar Wheeled Tractor Pan Scraper that was operating at the County’s Millersville landfill.”

Mr. Brickner also stated: “This unit was sold to a company in California. Our WasteBid service is now available for the auctioning of used solid waste equipment to private companies and public municipalities around the United States.

The WasteBid site also includes a Government Procurement Services Section where Waste Generator-Service Providers (haulers) bid for waste collection and disposal services in certain areas of the country. Waste generators can use the site to secure bids and contract for hauling and related services from qualified WasteBid Service Providers.
